Thank you for visiting my site!

I’m Teresa Vicars, a Collage Artist and aspiring Children’s book Writer and Illustrator. All of my work is done by hand. Working this way is slower, but oh so satisfying. A few years ago I cut up a watercolor and created a collage titled Peace for Ukraine. From that moment, I was hooked on creating collage.

The next one I was inspired by a meditation to meet your spirit guides. I used pieces from magazines combined with painting to create Spirit Guides. This piece won a State Award from the Wisconsin Regional Art Program WRAP. It also made the cover of Contour Notes a publication of the Association of Wisconsin Artists.

This got me started on my current work, which I call painting with paper. I’d like to share a little about my process. After the initial idea and sketch, I create handmade gelli prints in the colors I will be using.

The art is then intuitively created by tearing and cutting lots of little pieces and gluing them down. This is very time consuming, but oh so fun! 

My current project is a series titled Funky Angels, portraying different Angels in a new  modern interpretation. I really enjoy the process of collage and try to inspire others to try it.
